Winter Storm Moves Into High Plains, Midwest

Conditions began deteriorating on [link url=”http://www.weather.com/storms/winter/news/winter-storm-delphi-midwest-plains-corn-belt-november-december-2015″ title=”Monday in Minnesota“] and South Dakota, and the snow is expected to continue until Wednesday.  Winter storm warnings have been issued for portions of Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Beijing Pollution Creates Toxic Smog

No New Cases of MERS in South Korea

No new cases of [link url=”http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/mers/” title=”MERS“] have been reported for almost 5 months, causing [link url=”http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2015/12/01/0200000000AEN20151201005600320.html?input=www.tweeter.com” title=”South Korea to change its readiness alert“] to its lowest level, blue.

Officer Involved Shooting, Atlanta

Police have confirmed the death of one suspect in [link url=”http://www.ajc.com/news/news/crime-law/officer-involved-shooting-reported-near-downtown-a/npY4J/” title=”an officer involved shooting“] late last evening, near the Aloft Hotel on Spring Street NW.  Another suspect was taken into custody.  Witnesses report hearing multiple gunshots, and police have since reportedly found guns, cash, and [link url=”http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/downtown/2015/11/30/swat-situation-after-officer-involved-shooting-downtown-atlanta/76588992/” title=”marijuana in connection“] with the suspect.

Suspect Arrested in University of Chicago Threat

Dean has been arrested“] after allegedly using his phone to [link url=”https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2015/11/30/university-of-chicago-cancels-classes-over-gun-violence-threat/” title=” threaten killing at least 16 white students“] or staff, and white policemen at the [link url=”https://amuedge.com/edm-monday-briefing-university-of-chicago-oklahoma-winter-storms-baltimore/” title=”University of Chicago“].  The [link url=”http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34946792″ title=”threat was reportedly made in retaliation“] for the killing of Laquan McDonald, who was shot by a Chicago police officer late last year.

Chicago Police Officer Released on Bail

Video from the Laquan McDonald shooting was released last week, resulting in a police officers’ arrest and murder charge, and [link url=”https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2015/11/24/chicago-police-officer-charged-with-murder-for-shooting-black-teenager/” title=”prompted protests“] in Chicago.  The police officer who was charged with first-degree murder, [link url=”https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2015/11/30/bond-for-chicago-police-officer-who-fatally-shot-laquan-mcdonald-set-at-1-5-million/” title=”Jason Van Dyke, was released on bail“] today.

Kimberly Arsenault serves as an intern at the Cleveland/Bradley County Emergency Management Agency where she works on plan revisions and special projects. Previously, Kimberly spent 15 years in commercial and business aviation. Her positions included station manager at the former Midwest Express Airlines, as well as corporate flight attendant, inflight manager, and charter flight coordinator. Kimberly currently holds a master's degree in emergency and disaster management from American Public University.
