Restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings has issued an apology after a series of racist tweets appeared on Twitter. The posts were created by an unknown hacker who penetrated the company’s Twitter account.

The tweets appeared on Friday, June 1st on the company’s verified Twitter account. The posts were sent out to Buffalo Wild Wings’ more than 700,000 followers.

How Hackers Gained Access to Buffalo Wild Wings Twitter Account Still under Investigation

It is unclear how the hackers gained control of the restaurant’s official Twitter account. Common methods are phishing, guessing password reset questions or an authentication bypass to reroute reset code text messages.

As always, it is important to use complex passwords and two-factor authentication whenever possible. These precautions will help protect your social media accounts from becoming the targets of manipulation.
