Lee’s invasion of the North. Spread out over three days of fighting characterized by heavy cavalry charges, massive infantry assaults, and aggressive tactics; the Battle of Gettysburg represents the climax of the Civil War and its everlasting impression on American history.
Aside from the severe loss of life on the battlefield, what about Gettysburg led to its notoriety and how do interpretations by historians and scholars impact how Americans view the battle?
