Florida’s Orlando airport, known for notoriously long security checkpoints, will get new biometric screening in the form of facial recognition technology.
Already deployed in a limited capacity, the new technology means that travelers will not be required to produce a boarding pass or a passport to board an airplane.
Facial Recognition Technology Is Faster and up to 99% Effective, Says CBP
U.S. Customs and Border Protection claims that the facial recognition technology is 99% effective and takes about as long as a Google search to process. U.S. Customs officials assure the traveling public that they take privacy concerns very seriously.
The cost for the implementation of the new technology is the responsibility of the airports, not the U.S. government.
