U.S. military focusing on bolstering cyber defense
Different branches of the U.S. Armed Forces recently made commitments to cybersecurity, as the military looks to bolster its overall cyber defense.
Navy agrees to $100 million cyber contract
Late last month, the U.S. Navy [link url=”http://raytheon.mediaroom.com/2016-09-29-Raytheon-chosen-for-cybersecurity-research-and-support-to-U-S-Navy” title=”chose Raytheon”] to spearhead a major cybersecurity initiative.
The $98 million contract calls for Raytheon to complete work in cyberspace science, research, engineering and technology integration. The value of the contract could inflate to $165 million, depending if the Navy exercises certain options. Areas of focus include cyberspace intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and defensive cyberspace operations.
Raytheon Company is a large tech company that work in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions.
Air Force
The U.S. Air Force also awarded a cybersecurity contract in recent weeks. The Air Force awarded [link url=”http://technicacorp.com/technica-awarded-22-million-u-s-air-force-contract-to-support-next-generation-weapons-testing-program/” title=”Technica”] a $22 million contract to support cyber-readiness and cybersecurity operations.
Technica’s work will largely focus on cyber defense support for the Combined Air Operations Center – Experimental (CAOC – X) at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Technica will work to upgrade infrastructure, mitigate cyber vulnerabilities, and standardize system management processes
